| I have been teaching woodturning classes since the
early 90s, primarily for the Fairfax
County Adult Education Department. In addition I have taught several courses at the
Springfield, VA Woodcraft store. The two Fairfax County courses are described below and I
teach the pair three times a year - fall, winter and spring. I get a lot of enjoyment from
teaching and plan to do it in my home at some time in the future. For more information about registering for these courses, please contact the
Fairfax County Adult Education web site at http://www.fcps.k12.va.us/adult.htm or call them at 703-227-2377.

Fairfax County Adult Education Classes
Course #2236 Woodturning 1 (Beginner)
This is a highly structured beginner course that teaches all the
basics. It is designed for those who either do not have any tools so that they can see if
they like it before investing, or for those who have the interest but have had no formal
instruction and thus may be frustrated with trying to read the books to learn. There is a
project, a three legged stool, and we turn a green wood bowl as a class on the last night.
(15 hours of instruction in five 3-hour sessions on Wednesday evenings 7-10pm).

Course #2237 Woodturning 2
(Intermediate)
This is an intermediate course that builds on the first course. It
has three projects: a green
wood bowl, a platter and a lidded box. I teach the use of
double sticky tape to hold the wood for the last 2 projects. (18 hours of instruction in
six 3-hour sessions on Wednesday evenings 7-10pm).
